Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: February 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs your use of the Galleys platform and is incorporated into our Terms of Service. Violation of this AUP may result in suspension or termination of your account.
1. Prohibited Content
You may not upload or process content that:
- Infringes on the intellectual property rights of others. You must have the right to submit any manuscript you upload for analysis.
- Contains illegal material, including but not limited to content that violates child exploitation laws.
- Contains malware, viruses, or other harmful code disguised as manuscript content.
- Contains unauthorized personal data of third parties (e.g., real names, addresses, or private information of individuals without their consent, unless used in a clearly fictional context).
2. Prohibited Activities
You may not:
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, extract, or reconstruct the editorial system prompt or any proprietary analysis logic used by the Service.
- Use the Service for purposes other than manuscript editorial analysis (e.g., using it as a general-purpose AI chatbot, code generation tool, or content creation service).
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits, bans, or billing.
- Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the Service or its output without our written permission.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers, or connected networks, including through denial-of-service attacks, excessive automated requests, or exploitation of vulnerabilities.
- Circumvent any rate limits, usage quotas, or access controls implemented by the Service.
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Service except through our documented API.
3. API Key Responsibilities
If you use the Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) feature:
- You must only use API keys that belong to you or that you are explicitly authorized to use.
- You are responsible for all charges incurred on your API key through the Service.
- You must comply with the terms of service of the respective AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google).
- You must not use the Service to probe, test, or stress-test API keys belonging to others.
4. Rate Limits & Fair Use
Each subscription tier includes defined usage limits (manuscripts per month, words per analysis). These limits are enforced to ensure fair access for all users and sustainable operation of the Service.
Attempts to circumvent rate limits — including through multiple accounts, API abuse, or automated submission — constitute a violation of this AUP.
5. Consequences of Violation
We enforce this AUP through a graduated response:
- Warning — For first-time or minor violations, we will notify you and request corrective action.
- Suspension — For repeated or serious violations, your account may be temporarily suspended while we investigate.
- Termination — For severe or continued violations, your account will be permanently terminated. No refunds are issued for accounts terminated due to AUP violations.
We reserve the right to skip steps in the graduated response for severe violations that pose an immediate risk to the Service, other users, or third parties.
6. Reporting Abuse
If you become aware of any violation of this Acceptable Use Policy, please report it to abuse@galleys.ai. We investigate all reports and take appropriate action.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in accordance with our Terms of Service.
